“Baby Banana Tree” Sculpture
(Pasadena, CA)

The 25 foot tall “Baby Banana Tree” sculpture was designed by internationally acclaimed artist Yutaka Sone. With the help of Jose Noe Suro Salceda the piece was created from fiberglass and mixed media in Guadalajara, Mexico. Once completed it was transported to Pasadena City College where it was hand-finished in place. This beautiful sculpture was made possible by Pasadena philanthropist, Adelaide Hixon, and can be found in the Boone Sculpture Garden. In 2013, Spectra Company was called to conserve the sculpture after it suffered major structural damage in a 2011 windstorm.
