Kettner Lofts
(San Diego, CA )

The Kettner Lofts are located on the corner of Kettner Boulevard and W. Hawthorn Street in the heart of San Diego’s Little Italy. The project is comprised of four properties along the block – 2101, 2119, 2152 and 2175 Kettner Boulevard.

One notable structure is 2119 Kettner Boulevard, the John O’Day Commercial Building. Constructed in 1927, the commercial building was designed in the California Mission Revival style. It is a single-story building with hollow clay tile walls and a reinforced concrete foundation. The parapet wall and ornamental urns on the front façade are distinguishing features of Mission style architecture. Three large archways on the front façade further characterize the John O’Day Commercial Building. Today, the building is a car repair garage. Spectra restored the character defining features of the main façade include the urn finials and storefront windows.
