Metropolitan Lofts
(Los Angeles, CA)

Located at the intersection of W. 5th Street and S. Broadway, the Metropolitan Building was designed by renowned architect John Parkinson in 1913. With its glazed terra cotta, decorative spandrel panels, low relief sculptural ornamentation, and large projecting cornices, the Metropolitan is considered one of the finest examples of Beaux Arts Style in commercial buildings in all of Southern California.

The Metropolitan building has had a wide variety of occupants throughout its history, including the Owl Drug Co., a San Francisco-based drug store chain, the Los Angeles Public Library, and a Foreman & Clark clothing store. The building is currently home to loft-style apartments with  ground-floor retail space.
