Sportsmen’s Lodge
(Studio City, CA)

Sportsmen’s Lodge opened its doors in the 1880s. It’s location near the San Fernando Valley’s river, canyons and water holes made for a thriving location. As Studio City began to build up around Sportsmen’s Lodge, notable celebrities such as Humphrey Bogart, Clark Gable, and John Wayne were said to have taught their children to fish at the Lodge. As well, it became the unofficial “hang-out of choice” for celebrities of the day including Clark Gable, Bette Davis, John Wayne, Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn. Most interesting to note is that No other landmark hotel in Los Angeles pre-dates the conception of the Sportsmen’s Lodge”
