WALLCOVERINGS are a common decorative element found in various parts of historic buildings from commons spaces to ceilings to closets. Made from paper, vinyl, silk and other textile fabrics, causes of deterioration include moisture and UV light and flaking and fading colors, tearing, water staining, and loss of adhesion.

Prior to beginning any restoration work on historic wall coverings, Spectra’s preservation artisans perform an extensive pre-construction analysis of the wall finish and its current condition. If determined that the wall covering can be restored, Spectra will perform the restoration process that may include surface cleaning, minor repairs and re-adherence. In situations where originals were removed, Spectra will source and install historically compatible wallcoverings.
