Reuben Lombardo brings over 20 years of experience in the preservation field and is a key member of Spectra Company’s Historic Division. His expertise spans ornamental concrete and plaster, granite and marble, tile, stone and ceramics, historic murals and decorative painting, sculpture, mold making, wood restoration, and metals. While knowledgeable in many areas of historic restoration, Reuben has a particular passion for the artistic elements of preservation. An artist by trade, he combines his creative background with practical expertise in construction and project management. He is a graduate of Otis College of Art and Design and holds a Master of Fine Arts from UCLA.
Reuben has contributed his skills to numerous landmark restoration and waterproofing projects, including the Hoover Dam in Boulder City, Nevada; the Catalina Island Casino in Avalon; Hearst Castle in San Simeon; the Hollywood Bowl; the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood; the Fine Arts Building in Los Angeles; Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills; the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles; the Anaheim Citrus Packing House; the Santa Barbara Mission; Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcalá; Mission Santa Inés; Mission San Luis Rey; and multiple university projects at UCLA, Chapman University, Mount Saint Mary’s, and Caltech.
As part of Spectra’s project teams, Reuben has helped secure more than 100 preservation awards for work across the Western United States. He has also served two terms on the Board of Directors for the Western Chapter of APTI (Association of Preservation Technologies International) and has led numerous presentations and workshops on historic materials restoration for WCAPT, APTI, CPF, the LA Conservancy, APF (Arizona Preservation Foundation), and ACI (American Concrete Institute).
