Built in 1932 by Mayers Murray & Phillip, the Spanish Colonial style Linde + Robinson Laboratory has served Caltech scientists including astronomers and astrophysicists for over 80 years. It has unique stencil decoration and is decorated with celestial and solar motifs. Today, it is the home of the Ronald and Maxine Linde Center for Global Environmental Science.
The adaptive reuse of this lab is a fine example of historic preservation and sustainable design working together as a successful project. The project holds the title as the first LEED Platinum certified renovation of a historic lab building. Spectra worked with the design team as the historic restoration contractor, restoring many of the original building materials.
